MIL-STD-1833, MILITARY STANDARD: TEST REQUIREMENTS FORGROUND EQUIPMENT AND ASSOCIATED COMPUTER SOFTWARE SUPPORTING SPACE VEHICLES (13 NOV 1989) [NO S/S DOCUMENT]., The elements of a ground support system for space vehiclesinvolves various launch systems, complex ground equipment, andassociated computer software at installations all over theworld. These installations are interconnected by a globalcontrol and communications network. The high cost of scheduledelays or of operational failures make it important thatmodifications or upgrades to the ground equipment and computerresources be carefully tested prior to operational use.2. This document contains the baseline test requirements forthe design, development, and network integration of new ormodified ground equipment and associated computer software.More detailed technical test requirements for a particularacquisition would be addressed in the applicable specifications,or in other applicable documents, as an expansion of thebaseline herein.3. This baseline is also an approach to the test and evaluationof limited procurement quantity programs in implementing thepolicies of Development Tests and Evaluations (DT&E) andOperational Tests and Evaluations (OT&E) as outlined in AFR80-14, 鈥淭est and Evaluation.鈥?Software specific developmenttests and evaluations established by DOD-STD-2167, 鈥淒efenseSystem Software Development鈥? are applied and augmented toinclude in DT&E those tests needed for the integration into thenetwork of new or modified ground equipment software.4. Test documentation established by DOD-STD-2167 differ innomenclature, content, and scope from test documentation thatmay currently be in use following military standards publishedprior to DOD-STD-2167. These differences are recognized andaddressed herein so as to be of no particular consequence to thetest program.
