                   MIL-STD-31000, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE STANDARD PRACTICE: TECHNICAL DATA PACKAGES (TDP) (05 NOV 2009) [SUPERSEDING MIL-DTL-31000C]., This standard prescribes the requirements for preparing a technical data package(TDP), which is composed of one or more TDP elements and related TDP data managementproducts (See 6.1). Selection of the TDP Level, Type, Elements and TDP datamanagement products to make up a TDP must be based on the Procuring Activity抯 need fortechnical data required to support the acquisition and life cycle support strategies for the productbeing documented. The Procuring Activity抯' need for technical data varies greatly from programto program. All requirements herein are subject to tailoring. Theserequirements, as well as the requirements of specific TDP levels, types and elements and TDPdata management products selected for inclusion in the TDP, should be tailored by the ProcuringActivity prior to release of the solicitation. This includes the requirements stated in Data ItemDescriptions (DIDs), Government or non-Government standards, and requirements for the mediaand methods of delivery.
