                   MIL-HDBK-400, MILITARY HANDBOOK CRITERIA FOR PREPARATION OF GEAR AND SPLINE ENGINEERING DRAWINGS. This handbook covers parallel, intersecting, and nonintersecting axes gears, whose respective pitch surfaces of revolution are cylinders, cones and hyperboloida. It limits its coverage of splines to involute, parallel sided and straight nonparallel sided tooth forms. It does not attempt to cover either helical or tapered splines. Coverage of gear and spline types is, however, broad enough to permit adequate specification of special gear and spline configurations by supplementing or modifying comparable types within the scope of this handbook.
