Standard Test Method for
Calibration of Silicon Non-Concentrator Photovoltaic
Primary Reference Cells Under Global Irradiation
This test method is intended to be used for calibration and characterization of primary terrestrial, silicon photovoltaic reference cells
to the global reference spectral irradiance distribution defined by Tables E 8921. The recommended physical requirements for these
reference cells are described in Specification E 10401. Reference cells are principally used in the determination of the electrical
performance of a photovoltaic device.
Formerly under the jurisdiction of Committee E44 on Solar, Geothermal and Other Alternative Energy Sources, this test method was
withdrawn in March 2004 because no laboratories currently use it, and because Test Method E 11251 is a more accurate test method.
