MIL-HDBK-2150(SH), MILITARY HANDBOOK SHIP COMPARTMENT NOMENCLATURE AND SPACE CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM., The purpose of this standard is to establish a uniform system for recording and identifying the space allocated in Navy ships and to provide an alphabetical listing of all approved ship compartment titles. The Space Classification System shall be used for assignment of a space classification number to a space. The space classification number indicates the function performed by the space. The alphabetical listing shall be used to provide title for all new or modified ship compartments NOTE: MIL-STD-2150A(SH) has been redesignated as a handbook, and is to be used for guidance only. This document is no longer to be cited as a requirement. For administrative expediency, the only physical change from MIL-STD-2150A(SH) is this cover page. If cited as a requirement, contractors may disregard the requirements of this document and interpret its contents only as guidance.
