MIL-STD-1501E (W/CHANGE 1), DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE STANDARD PRACTICE: CHROMIUM PLATING, LOW EMBRITTLEMENT, ELECTRO-DEPOSITION (29 APR 2009)., This standard covers the engineering requirements for electrodepositionof hard chromium on high strength steel substrates and the properties ofdeposit. Subsequent heat treating techniques needed to insure low hydrogenembrittlement of steel are described. Chromium plated to this standard will meet theperformance requirements of SAE-AMS-QQ-C-320. This standard may be usedwhenever SAE-AMS-QQ-C-320 is specified, provided any unique requirements in SAEAMS-QQ-C-320 are complied with.
